This post is about how to make a tasty stovetop burger recipe.
To make this burger patty, you will need:
To make the burger, you will need any of the following based on your own preferences:
Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and roll them into balls. Using the palm of your hand, flatten the balls at the center. Keep flattening the entire patty until it is even and about a 1/2 inch thick.
*Note: Be sure to flatten it thin and wide because it shrinks about 25% while cooking! These patties can reach up to 6 inches wide before cooking and then shrink down to about 4.5 inches after cooking.
Season each patty with a generous sprinkle of salt and pepper.
Heat up a large skillet on medium heat and spray it with cooking spray.
Gently place the patties in the skillet. If all four patties do not fit in the pan, brown them two at a time.
Caution: There will be a lot of splattering going on as the patty cooks down and the fat melts out.
Cook each side for about 3-5 minutes until browned. Take the patties out and do the same with the other two patties.
Once all four patties have been browned on both sides, drain the excess grease. Put the patties back in the pan, add 1/4 cup water, put on the lid and let it simmer on low for about 10-15 minutes. This tenderizes the meat and cooks it all the way through.
If you plan on making a cheeseburger, add the slice of cheese on top of the fully cooked patty while it’s still in the skillet and hot. Put the lid on and allow it to melt (which will take only a minute or two).
Consider serving the burgers along with these fabulous sides:
