Brace yourself for kebab heaven! This chicken shish kebab recipe blends all the right spices to give you a tantalizing flavor that will have you saying mm, mm, mmm!
I’ve made a lot of kebab in my day so I thought I’d share one of our household favorites with you! These juicy chunks of chicken bliss start with a marinade of yogurt and spices. Yogurt actually helps keep the chicken juicy and is a Middle-Eastern (known) secret :p
The combination of the flavor, juiciness and char of the grill really make this chicken kebab stand out. Wrap them up in pita bread or homemade naan right off the grill and pile it on with pickled onions and tzatziki sauce. Or serve these skewers along with basmati rice or a special Middle Eastern rice, and salad and you’ve got yourself a heavenly meal.
This post is about how to make the ultimate chicken shish kebab recipe.
To make this recipe, you will need:
First, make the marinade by mixing together the spices, oil, and yogurt in a bowl.
Cut the chicken into about 2-inch chunks and add the marinade. Mix to evenly distribute the marinade. Put it in the refrigerator and let it marinade for at least 8 hours or overnight.
When you’re ready to grill, skewer the chicken chunks on metal or wooden skewers. Note: If you are using wooden skewers, be sure to soak the wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to help prevent it from charring on the grill.
If you decide to grill some vegetables alongside the chicken kebab, be sure to skewer them separately on their own skewers and grill them. This is because vegetables and chicken cook at different rates. If they’re on the same skewer, the vegetables will likely burn before the chicken is cooked all the way through.
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. If your grilling grates are prone to sticking, grease it before starting the grill.
Grill the chicken kebabs until golden brown and cooked through. Occasionally turn the skewers to ensure all sides cook evenly, about 15 minutes. Transfer the kebabs to a platter and serve.
Make it a meal and serve this kebab with these other favorites:
