This freshly-baked and browned easy apple crisp recipe is much simpler to make than an apple pie, but is just as delicious! Fresh apples and a crispy topping make this dessert hard to pass up, especially when it’s served along with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!
Apple crisps are one of my favorite desserts to make. They are extremely easy to make and fill the house with an aroma that oozes a sense of coziness. Essentially, there are just three steps to making the crisp: combine the filling, combine the topping, and bake.
It’s an easy way to impress family or guests and it’s a dessert that can bake while dinner is made. I serve it alongside freshly-made whipped cream or vanilla ice cream to take it to a new level of decadence. If you serve the apple crisp warm, the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream melt into the dessert and make very happy spoonfuls.
This post is about how to make an easy apple crisp recipe.
To make this recipe, you will need:
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
We’ll start by making the topping or “crisp.”
Next, we will prepare the apple filling. Wash, peel, and chop the apples into thick chunks (about 1 inch). Add them to a medium bowl and add the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract and stir to combine.
Next, transfer the apples to a greased baking pan. I used an oval 6½ by 9-inch baking pan. Any shape baking pan will work as long as it can hold about 4-5 cups.
Now, evenly layer on the topping.
Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the crisp topping has browned and the apples have softened.
Serve the apple crisp warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream…yum!
