This freshly-baked and browned easy apple crisp recipe is much simpler to make than an apple pie, but is just as delicious! Fresh apples and a crispy topping make this dessert hard to pass up, especially when it's served along with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!

Crisp Topping Ingredients
½cuprolled oats(old-fashioned oats)
⅓cupflour
¼cupbrown sugar
½teaspooncinnamon
⅛teaspoonsalt
4tablespoonsbutter(¼ cup) melted
Apple Filling Ingredients
3mediumapplesabout 3 heaping cups, chopped
⅓cupbrown sugar
1tablespoonall-purpose flour
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1teaspooncinnamon
pinchsalt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Make the topping: Add all of the dry ingredients for the topping to a medium bowl including the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Stir to combine. In a small bowl, melt the butter in the microwave. Add the melted butter to the dry ingredients and combine well to make a crumbly topping. Set aside.
Make the apple filling: Wash, peel, and chop the apples into thick chunks (about 1 inch). Add them to a medium bowl and add the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract and stir to combine.
Transfer the apple mixture to a greased baking pan. I used an oval 6½ by 9-inch baking pan. Any shape baking pan will work as long as it can hold about 4-5 cups.Next, evenly layer on the topping mixture.
Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the crisp topping has browned and the apples have softened.
Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired. Enjoy!
Notes
*I used green apples in this recipe. If you use any other sweeter apple variation, consider cutting the sugar of the filling in half.
